King Biscuit Flower Hour

The King Biscuit Flower Hour was a syndicated radio show that broadcast rock concert performances on FM stations weekly, and featured concerts recorded from 1973 through 1993.

The first King Biscuit Flower Hour show was broadcast on February 18, 1973 and featured Blood, Sweat & Tears, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and a young Bruce Springsteen. Over the years the biggest names in rock appeared on the show, as well as new and emerging new wave artists in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. Aerosmith, Chicago, Eric Clapton, Elvis Costello, Fleetwood Mac, Genesis, Elton John, Journey, Iggy Pop, The Ramones, The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Talking Heads, James Taylor, U2 and The Who and many more appeared on the show.

Concerts were recorded with a multi-track mobile recording truck, then mixed and edited for broadcast. The resulting tape archives were acquired by Wolfgang’s Vault in 2006, and have been painstakingly restored and digitally transferred in their full original concert form, and can now be heard on (and in many cases downloaded from) the Concert Vault.
