Concert Summary

AC/DC had been in existence for six years and had released as many albums when they recorded this rollicking show at Towson State College, near Baltimore, Maryland. The band was in its prime, with vocalist Bon Scott leading the group through what would later be viewed as some of their strongest material, with the Young Brothers (Angus and Malcolm) driving the guitar-boogie riffs at full throttle.

The band had just released Highway To Hell, the album that would break the entertaining Aussie band worldwide, and was…entire summary

I love this recording! I am 43 and have been an AC/DC fan since '78. My first AC/DC concert was 1980 after Bon had passed. When I listen to AC/DC pre-Back In Black I feel like I missed out on a legendary singer. I appreciate their music more today than I ever have. I so wish that I could have seen AC/DC play in a small club venue with Bon singing. Their energy and enthusiasm is vibrant. So I enjoy reading other people's comments on the concerts they saw in the 70's. I recently saw AC/DC in Chicago (Nov '08) and they still have the same energy and put on a killer show. I just wish I could hear more Bon era songs. High Voltage, Let There Be Rock and Powerage are my favorite albums! Thank you for posting this concert and the commentaries.

I saw this tour in Long Beach California, Sept '79, one month before this gig. I had been an AC/DC for quite awhile, but it was my first time seeing them live. I'm so glad I did, given Bon's passing not long after. Outside the venue there were a group of Christian protesters carrying big signs that said "AC/DC fans are on the Highway to Hell!" and preaching through megaphones. I couldn't figure out if it was real or maybe a publicity stunt (and a great one at that) cooked-up by AC/DC management. Whatever, it was the perfect surreal intro to a kick-ass night with Bon and the boys that sounded just like this live show here at Wolfgang's Vault. Long live the memory of Bon, truly one of a kind....what a voice.

Had tix to this show but got "shot down in flames" by my mom. Of course my friends never let me live it down. Anyway, had the set on a cassette and played it until (like Bon) it had an untimely death. I love the references to the world series between the pirates(bucs) and the orioles(birds). Just put this APP on my iphone. Love it!! Long live Bon Scott and AC/DC.

My first record was Let There Be Rock. I was in 4th grade and it was the 70s. Now I am 41....my 6 year old son loves AC/DC. To this day, I still remember the day Bon died...too young! Favorite album is Powerage! I own 2500 records, a few thousand CDs, and a couple hundred Gigs of mp3s....still pop these guys on when I want a jolt! Ride On....

My son is 11, and he knows every AC/DC song front ways and backwards. He now plays bass and knows their songs, I'm taking him to his first live concert ever... AC/DC at The Izod Arena, in Rutherford NJ on Nov 19, 2009, he's so excited and I'm now rediscovering AC/DC. What energy!
