After Alvin Lee’s guitar playing at Woodstock catapulted Ten Years After to international fame, the band took a more commercial direction and started playing stadium tours. Come 1974, Alvin felt limited within the confines of this band and embarked on a solo career.

    actually, Lee wasn't solo, there was another guitar player with him, whose name i have never known. i wonder if Mary's interview of Dylan after Blood on the Tracks is available for listening?

    interesting. we saw him solo in Long Beach about that time, i guess. Flo and Eddie opened and sucked. and then Alvin played and sucked. i already had listened to On the Road to Freedom alot and loved it, but he didn't play anything from the album, which was a bummer. he had a bad attitude... my only front row concert, too... oh well. disappointing in that i saw Ten Years After the summer of 70 in Dallas and the were smokin' at that time
