Awesome! Terry was brillant. Help us get one honor he deserves (and deserves many) which is to be inducted into his high school's hall of fame. Sign the petition to show your support: http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/taft-high-school-alumni-honors.html It will be used at the alumni board meeting on Nov. 20. The petition will be kept online after that...but has chance to make a big impact this week.

Kath's soloing in these early days was diverse and mind capturing. Ever heard Carnegie hall version of his solo on It Better End Soon, or, his solo ending "rock around the clock" from the song Sing a mean tune kid ?

I quit buying CTA albums after the third one. Then they went pop.

Saw Chicago live in 1974 at MSG in NYC....that experience and sound can never be duplicated. I saw and heard the present Chicago group on a Direct TV special presentation and said to my wife: Who is that playing??? The name of the group may be the same, but the sound is very different.....

Is it me or does the sheer sound quality of the instruments sound much better in this 1969 concert than say the 1974 concert? Just compare this version of 25or6to4 with the '74 version. Terry Kath's sound and playing is so much better. Why can't musicians keep the same magical sound especially the guitar as they play on their early albums?

When you listen to these shows you remember what a huge part of the Chicago sound Terry Kath and Pete Cetera were responsible for. The group is still great, but I can't forget how they started out.

This band had such an innovative and powerful sound in its infancy from 1969 to 1971. Kath's wailing guitar riffs and haunting vocals, Cetera's pulsating base lines and soaring vocals, Lamm's melodic keyboards and mellow vocals, Seraphine's frenetic drum beat, and the rock and roll's best brass section ever created a unique musical experience.

Played before Jimi Hendrix at the Oakland Coliseum ( just before album #1 ) and tore the damn doors off the place ! Who were these guys ? Jazz/rock/politics and Terry Kath ! Guitar players know how damn good he was They evolved into a sugary pop machine , today , but these years were pure power and energy..... It better end soon , now , in 2008 ! Search out an old "solo" Terry Kath cd with some other rare gems .
