Concert Summary

Dave Mason began his career in music as a roadie for the Spencer Davis Group, and it was there that he met child rock/blues prodigy, Steve Winwood. In 1967, he was asked to join Winwood's post-Spencer Davis band, Traffic. The group's sophomore record, simply entitled, Traffic, would deliver a slew of radio hits, including "Pearly Queen," "40,000 Headmen," and the classic, "Feelin' Alright," written solely by Mason. Traffic's popularity skyrocketed, but he often clashed with Winwood over the musical direction of the band. By 1969, Traffic fell apart when Winwood departed to form…entire summary

"If you live with lies each day, eventually you'll fade away, Live with truth and you will see, all that life's been meant to be..." (not sure of the lyrics, but "Relationships," my favorite song) Glad to hear this live recorded show. Still go to see Dave when he plays at BB Kings in NYC. Continues rocking just as good as ever! Never got the credit he deserved from his time with Traffic. His solo career has been awesome nonetheless. Maybe not commercially, but for us who appreciate his lyrics and music, and that freaking guitar, I hope he keeps playing as long as possible! PEACE

I was fortunate to be involved with DM 25 yrs ago to help him try and re-jump start his career. He is oh so talented and truly a good man. I do agree with mrreferee that he harbors a very low opinion of the recording industry, guess it all stems from the early breakup with Traffic and his Blue Thumb fiasco. When he is on there is no one better. Thanks Dave for all you have given music and rock and roll.

Thanks soooo much Live Dave!!!! You can barely find his studio stuff these days, but LIVE?... Wow! Ive seen him twice: 2003 and 2004. We were going to see him in 2007 and this year but things turned up. Such a hard-to-find concert! Only at Wolfgang's I suppose

Vic Saw DM in 1975 (fall?)at a night concert in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. This is a famed concerthall with supposedly one of the best acoustics to be found anywhere. Gustav Mahler was a regular guest conductor around 1900. This recording features the same band I saw in Amsterdam. Jaeger and Johnson were one of the best rhytm sections I have heard. I can remember that their magnificent sound seemed to bounce back and forth against the walls in the concerthall. Great memories

This sounds really great. I saw him first time in '77 and later in middle of 80's in Tokyo. He should have better recognition in the music world as swamp music path-finder in 60's. I really wish to see him again in Japan. From Yokohama, Japan.

From M.C. @ strayngedayz I have been following Traffic from day one.Dave should be with them, they should be together now. Last Traffic jam is a huge jam, he should have been invited. I think Traffic should do one more tour. What can I say!!!!!!!!!

I saw DM at Winterland in late '73 or early '74. He had a fabulous band (Finnegan and Jaeger was hot!) and really rocked the place. He also did a short acoustic set that showed his lighter touch. It was one of the best concerts I ever attended, and I've seen quite a few. All Along the Watchtower was the best version since Hendrix (DM played on the original Hendrix recording and came up with the chord progression, did you know?) His double live album Certified Live a few years later, while not bad, is a a tired approximation of the performance I saw. I'm looking forward to hearing this San Diego concert. The set list looks very much like what I remember hearing, and the band, I think, is the same, although I'm not sure about Johnson and Winding.
