Concert Summary

By the time this King Biscuit Flower Hour recording was made in 1978, the classic five piece Genesis lineup of Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford had dwindled to only Collins, Banks and Rutherford. Hence, the title of the album released for this tour: And Then There Were Three.

Ironically, even with its popular lead vocalist and…entire summary

Anyone thinking a new studio CD and tour with the classic five is possible? All new material performed, much like the Lamb was to unsuspecting kids in '74? Then a '2nd half' like Floyd's 'dark side' performance? i know they got it in 'em. Man I'd hate to be on that road crew, but I'll buy a $100 ticket!

Rael, you're right-they opened the set with 11th Earl.

I attended this Houston concert back in '78. This was later called the "Mirror Tour" where they had 3 giant mirrors rotating above the stage creating spectacular effects.

I've just witnessed The Musical Box's take on the trick of the tail tour, and although there seemed to be some first(date of the tour) blips they put on an amazing show and a glimpse of what it must have been like to witness Genesis post Gabriel. I cannot rate them highly enough...no ordinary tribute band. Mozart and others are still getting the 'tribute' treatment so why not Genesis. A particular highlight is the 'steve coogan as saxondale' era Phil...excellent...oh and the transition from vocalist Phil into drummer Phil! Ged

not a big fan of post-W&W genesis, but tracks like "deep in the motherload" have given me some reason to listen to this "newer" (35 years now hahaha)stuff.

The guitarist sounds to be Daryl Stuermer (sp?). Very fast and technically awesome. Having said that, Steve Hackett is also a wonderful interpreter of the music. Each one a bit different. Just phenomenal concert. I would say better sounding than Seconds Out. I saw them in 86 and in '07. Very very good...but something was missing...perhaps they were a bit too polished. Something about rock...even with these technically gifted musicians...that lends itself to imperfection and spontaneity. Having Phil animated in the clips on you-tube is great. In the recent concert...not so much.

Saw this tour at a college gynasium in Suffern NY. The boys played for over three hours. Undoubtedly, one of the best post-Gabriel tours I saw and I saw them all. 2007 was nostagic, but a big letdown. Go see the Musical Box when they're in town and you'll get your money's worth and walk out satisfied!!!

Hej, Didn't this tour open with "the eleveneth earl of mar"? This seems to be the second half of the show. On the Duke tour they opened with "deep in the motherlode" as were the MO back then, open with a song from the previous album. any comments?

yeah, no Gabriel but Phil and the band were still under his influence and these songs were brilliant both lyrically and musically. Cinema Show!
