Concert Summary

In the future, when rock historians decide to eulogize Iggy Pop, they will undoubtedly call him the Godfather of Punk. Though The Ramones and The Sex Pistols turned the genre into a movement, it was Iggy Pop who took the grit of Chicago blues with the rock sensibility of the Stones and the adventurism of garage rock, and…entire summary

saw the tour with Bowie and Blondie, in Columbus, Ohio...remember seeing the marquee outside wondering "who is Blondie"...Ig moved in ways i'd never seen before (or since)...Bowie didn't say anything, but looked totally alien...leaving by way of back of the Agora passed the Columbus Cops out with their German shepherds...lots of fun !

Sorry, but this was horrible! I love Iggy and have seen him a few times, but the song arrangements on this suck! Why change the bass line on almost every song on here? Raw power sounding sort of melodic? Gimme Danger sounds nothing at all like the original, nor does Search or Dog...absolutely horrible from beginning to end, IMO.

Great stuff here, but I remember him doing more songs from the current albums. Don't forget that The Idiot and Lust for Life were 2nd & 3rd in a run of 3 brilliant solo albums - the first and equal best was Kill City.

I was at the Palladium Show in NYC also--The Ramones opened, and they were unbelievable (in that loud, fast, growling kinda way--I became an instant fan). Soupy Sales introduced Iggy (his sons were the rhythm section) by asking the crowd to "Exhale on the count of 3!", responding, "Thank you--I am now stoned!" And then Iggy came on and tore it up, climbing the light scaffolding, barking, howling... amazing stuff for a 15 year old boy from the Jersey Shore. I've seen Iggy a few times since--always great--but nothing matches that Lust for Life tour for me...

Umm - I saw the second tour, in NYC, and it was with the Sales brothers, but after Bowie left. No piano, just two guitars, bass and drums. Saw them at the Palladium. Great show, great sound - significantly powerful drums, probably Bowie helped set up the sound setup. But I really thought it was the Lust for Life tour, and that Bowie was with The Idiot tour. Also - there are no songs here from the two new albums...where are "the passenger" and "lust for life" and all? Anybody know?
