Concert Summary

Following his service in the army, John Prine seemed to spring forth as a fully formed multi-dimensional singer songwriter at the age of 24. In 1971, Prine released one of the most impressive debut albums ever, proving himself capable of writing folk balladry, country, and rock songs laced with pathos, sensitivity, and sardonic humor that reflected on the human condition. A critical smash but a commercial disappointment, this remarkable album set the tone for the rest of his career. The next two albums, 1971's Diamondsentire summary

Like anonymous from 9-14, I grew up in the Berkshires and went to this concert and may others at the Music Inn. What a wonderful setting to enjoy performers like John Prine, Bonnie Raitt and as diverse as Dave Brubeck, Herbie Hancock and Bob Marley. I still have pictures of the grassy outdoor ampitheather with the tall pine trees in the back swaying in the breeze, along with colored balloons and beautiful sunsets. Anyone who'd like to take a glimpse can go on youtube and search for Music Inn. There are clips from "WorkshopLive TV - Music Inn" parts 1 though 4. You can see some still shots and watch interviews with some of those who worked there. GetChet

been going to see him since the early 70's.still think the best idea "is to blow up the tv, throw away the paper, move to the country..try and find Jesus on your own." also, funny how "flag decal" bolts right on 35 years later.right on, john.steve's smilin and still waitin for the cubs to win the big one.

Grew up in the Berkshires, and saw this concert, with Bonnie Rait... What wonderful memories it brings back, of a time somewhat less complicated. No cellphones, no computers back then (can you imagine?), lots of nature...a national bond between young people, and lots of love.

I never get tired of hearing this man's music. He can make you laugh and cry, at the same time. He is missed.
