Concert Summary

When it came to playing hard drivin’ blues rock, Stevie Ray Vaughan certainly seems to have taken the torch that was handed off by the late Jimi Hendrix - and ran with it till his legs gave out. Hendrix obviously had a massive influence on the young musician (Vaughan even received one of Hendrix's Stratocasters from the late guitar demigod shortly before his death); and while it's a sad coincidence that Vaughan himself lived hard and died young,…entire summary

Typical Stevie, never missed a chord. Best memory is seeing him at Poplar Creek in Chicago in '88 or '89 (little blurry on those memories) and catching a tip that he was going to play Buddy Guy's the next night. Buddy's was packed, Stevie strolled in with a blond on each arm and lit the place up. They literally blew the roof off the place.

Clapton admittedly went to his first SRV concert in disguise and said he was blown away from SRV's virtuosity, proceeded to swallow his pride and allowed himself to enjoy the balance of Stevie's set. SRV was undoubtedly the top gunslinger.

Not True.. Many documentaries have stated Stevie never got to meet Jimi. Stevie has said he use to have these dreams about hendrix who would show him all these crazy different chords.... SRV 4 EVER.....

I've read that somewhere, but it is in fact false. People seem to get it confused with the fact that SRV, at times, played a limited edition Strat with a reversed headstock. (Very few were made at that time and it is not to be confused with the Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Strat of the early '90's, this was an extremely limited edition, pre-Fender Custom Shop, guitar.)
