Concert Summary

This recording comes from the original Allman Brothers Band lineup and was the west coast counterpart to the famous Fillmore East gigs, also recorded in 1971. The Fillmore East tapes eventually became the source for the Allman Brothers's legendary At Fillmore East release, one of the best selling rock albums ever and widely regarded by rock historians and critics as the greatest live album of all time.

The six songs are mostly all on the Fillmore East LP, but they are clearly different takes and contain a different feel and energy than those on the famous double live…entire summary

Unbelievable! This recording takes me back to the early days of the brothers when they played so often at Piedmont Park and the old Municipal Auditorium in Atlanta. It's great to find these early recordings. It just makes me miss Duane and Berry all the more. I just saw the Allman Bros. in Chastain park and they were great. Derek Trucks is phenomenal, but nobody has reached the level that Duane played. Thanks for putting this out there. I can't wait to listen to more of it.

The best American band of all time at their very best! I've seen various versions of the Allman Brothers 30 times over the past thirty years and have yet to be disappointed. Sadly, this original band came and went a few years before my concert going career began. Many thanks to the good people at Wolfgang's Vault for making gems like this available. Please continue digging through the mine so that you may give us more...

Is Liz Reed the best piece of ALLBROS recorded music or what? Every version, live electric, studio or acoustic smokes. Grateful to this site to hear different renditions. Keep them coming. THE ROAD GOES ON FOREVER!

To stevieinc: Another version of Dreams that is great is the one on the Live At Atlanta International Pop Festival double CD set. This is the right stuff! IMO even more high energy than the Fillmore East version,if that is possible.I have to say after the Grateful Dead the Allmans were tops for me back in the sizzling seventies. In fact the Allmans rocked way harder and were way tighter and were more of a well oiled unit.I caught them in their prime at Manhattan Center and the Schaefer Music Festival in Central Park NYC. I was so close at the Central Park show that I saw stage light reflections on Duane's slide turn into seagulls flying off his fingers during that cool "bird whistle" part of "Whipping Post"! OK , I was a bit "under the influence, but it was still memorable...
