Concert Summary

Along with Buffalo Springfield, Poco, and the Byrds (from which some of the members came), the Flying Burrito Brothers are widely credited as being among the founding fathers of the modern country-rock movement.

This is the first of two shows recorded for the Silver Eagle Radio Show in 1982 at the Sundown Club in New York. By the time they did this show, the band was essentially a traditional country act with some rock leanings. None of the members remained from the original line-up, but they maintained much of the original band’s musical brilliance and traditional country integrity.…entire summary

Thank you all for your helpful comments...and we always love to hear from band members! We've made all the necessary changes and they'll be live on the site shortly. Cheers!

Not sure why Chris Hillman has his photo featured here, as he had nothing to do with this version of the band, let alone this concert. Thanks John Beland for your comments here.

Yea..Thats Avery Burdette on keyboards, Chad Watson on bass, Glenn Worfe on drums, Gib & I on vocals, heon fiddle and I on guitar. Cant recall who played steel. Ha ha, Jerry Reed was loaded to the gills when he sat in on Louisianna Sat Night & 6 Days On The Road. He couldnt stand up..played sitting down on the stage...In fact, we were all a bit "happy" that night. Peace John Beland www.johnbeland.com

The band thanks Silver Eagle at the end of the concert, so it sounds like a Silver Eagle concert rather than King Biscuit.

This is the later, Nashville version of the group, after Sneeky Pete left. The 1975 version of the band faded away in 1979, but John Beland and Gib Gilbeau started writing songs together. They used the name "Burrito Brothers," and along with Sneeky Pete released two albums on Epic/Curb Records. The band sounded more like Bakersfield country--modern Honky Tonk--than country rock per se. Sneeky Pete left after the second album, 1982's Sunset Sundown to become a full-time animator, although he continued to perform and record--and even rejoin the Flying Burrito Brothers--until shortly before his death.

There's definitely someone playing keyboards, but he's not credited. Does anyone know who this might have been?
