Concert Summary

If you listen to this show back-to-back with Van Morrison’s 1978 Bottom Line show, you will have as close to a greatest hits live performance recording as one can expect from the acclaimed Irish singer/songwriter. Recorded in the fall of 1979, when Morrison was approaching the tail end of his most creatively fertile time as a musician, this show exudes the pure joy found in so much of his music.

Opening with "Kingdom Hall," and moving through a set that includes "Bright Side Of The Road,” "You Make Me Feel So…entire summary

Lazar's comments seem to be a common complaint with Van's concerts, Saw the band in 2006 Ottawa Blues fest. Even though he seemed disconected during the concert, the whole concert musically was a treat to the ears of this long time fan

Van is at the top of his game here. Katie Kissoon is heavenly. Pee Wee's arrangements were astonishing. The band kicks it up a couple of notches. Absolutely, out of this world...polished perfection! A special evening, for sure. How anyone could be there and feel "short-changed" is beyond me. Consider yourself lucky to have caught this show!

Hey Grateful Greg -- The funny thing is, it so happens I was at this Berkeley show back in '79 (amazing to find it posted here!), and I remember my friends and I feeling short-changed. We all found him sullen, disengaged, and basically in a hurry to get through it. Ironically, to my ears now it sounds pretty good!
