Concert Summary

This is one of the shows in the last tour of the classic "Roundabout"-era of Yes until they reunited after 2000. The band had always been fueled by many internal conflicts, as were many other classic prog-rock bands such as ELP, King Crimson and The Moody Blues. By the time this show was taped for the King Biscuit Flower Hour, there were clearly two camps within the band: the one for more commercial and conventional radio songs, and the camp who…entire summary

Yes! Was fortunate enough to see the "Going For the One" Tour in the round! I will remember that for the rest of my life... still have my ticket stub.

One of the more well known live Yes performances, this show has always been a favorite of mine. I had a tape copy from an FM broadcast back in the late 80's to early 90's. That tape played in my car's cassette deck for the better part of about 3-4 years! Performed while on tour for then new album Tormato, this was also the band's 10th anniversary. This concert is packed with many Yes favorites, and they are all played with great skill and tremendous heart. Of particular note is a smoking version of Siberian Khatru, a killer Starship Trooper, a version of Heart of the Sunrise that will amaze you, and an incredible medley of songs and jamming that runs for over 25 minutes, and includes Time and a Word, Long Distance Runaround, The Fish, Perpetual Change and Soon from the Gates of Delirium. The medley also has snippets and bits of other Yes songs intertwined in the music including Topographic Oceans. Sadly Awaken is incomplete here, and the running order of the songs are a little out of sequence. Overall this is a highly, highly recommended show. If you are a Yes fan, you will love this performance, if you are just a casual fan of music, this is a great Yes show to start with. To this day, the band continues to perform live and can still bring joy to their fans with the warmth, spirit and artistry they reveal through their music. What are you waiting for? Play it!!!!

I was there 30 years ago today for the Matinee concert..I Remember me and 5 friends taking our seats and being amazed that the stage was in the centre of the arena, we'd never seen anything like it, very original at the time & it gave everyone a Wonderful view. Great concert, loads of energy and great lightshow.

saw one of the wembley shows and they sounded great but there was obvious tension on stage and something was bound to give, had this show that was broadcast on tommy vance's friday rock show for years on tape. the version of don't kill the whale is the one on the yesshows live album i believe, now if only you can get a show from the drama tour that if you were objective was a rebirth and set the style for the 90210 era, unfortunetly most people held a grudge against the buggles for no apparent reason and were definetly there with deaf ears to some really great music and energy, idiots

Plus, "Awaken" did not appear until the the "Going for the One" album, which came out in 1977. Great concert however. Saw this tour as well as the "Going for the One" tour. Both amazing. Thanks for the great recordings!

No way this show was recorded in 1976. "Don't Kill The Whales" was from the "Tormato" album which came out in '78.

No way this could have been recorded in 1976. Tormato (which included "Don't Kill the Whales") didn't even come out until 1978.
