As Stooges' front man, Iggy Pop led with a rebellious, hostile view of life. Formed in 1967, the Stooges were a Detroit band mainstay with their high voltage, onstage antics, and in their live performances Iggy appeared possessed, rousing crowds and mutilating himself onstage with broken beer bottles. Iggy was born James Jewel Osterberg and began calling himself "Iggy" after his first band in high school, The Iguanas.
